A Brief Discription
When Noel Selvarajah was undergoing treatment at Columbia University Hospital in New York, what we realized was that there are a whole lot of expenses that your medical insurance does not cover. Cancer treatment entails specialized treatment plans and most of the time depending in the type of cancer, one has to travel for treatment. Families in most cases will not want their loved one’s to travel alone and that means more expenses for a care taker. These expenses can quickly add up to quite a lot considering the frequency of treatment required. Hotel bills, meals, bus tickets, train tickets, taxi, plane tickets, and not to forget time off from work. As in the case of Noel, once a week trip for almost 5-6 months ended up costing quite a lot of money. For some it could mean the difference between life and death.
The first fundraiser for Noel Selvarajah Cancer Foundation is to help ease the burden of these families and to help them meet these costs at the least partially and give them a fair chance to get the treatment that might make a difference between life and death and not worry about how they will get to their next treatment.
Please take the time to just reflect that God has taken care of us and given us better health than a lot of other less fortunate human beings. Let us sacrificially try to make a difference in the lives of those that are struggling to keep their heads up above water through all the challenges that they go through. They have enough to worry about without having to worry about finances.
